Helpful Information

Arrival & Departure Times

Arrival: Sundays 2-4 pm
Departure: Saturdays 10: 30 am

Regular arrival and departure times apply for campers attending consecutive weeks. Please provide written consent if your child is to be picked up by another family member, friend or relative.

Riding Equipment- All riding helmets must meet current ASTM standards and be SEI approved. If you already own a helmet please ensure that it complies with standards. There should be a sticker on the inside of the helmet that says SEI certified. Helmets will be supplied for campers that do not have one.

Proper footwear is mandatory for all riders. Hard-soled footwear with a heel between 1-1.5cm is required. Shoes or boots that have large heels are unacceptable. Paddock boots, available at tack stores are great for riding. Please feel free to contact Kemur if you are unsure about your footwear.

All levels of riders benefit from proper riding attire: half chaps, breeches, boots and gloves. Jeans are suitable for beginner riders. Baggy/slippery pants are not suitable.

During the Day

Girls are divided into two “flights”. Each flight rides twice a day-morning, afternoon or after dinner. Lessons are in large enclosed sand rings and trails are through our beautiful forest and countryside.

Girls have fun making crafts in our fabulous open air pavilion, playing camp games, swimming in the pool, cookouts and working on skits for Friday night.

Cleaning their horses’s tack, learning about the horses they love and looking forward to the “in-camp” Horse Show are all part of the amazing Kemur experience.

Counsellors are experienced ,skilled, caring and passionate about camp and horses.

Mail - Girls love to receive mail! If you wish to send a letter to your child it is a good idea to mail it a few days prior to camp. You are welcome to leave mail with us to be distributed throughout the week. Campers do not have access to computers/email.

Homesickness - It is a good idea to speak openly about homesickness. It can happen to anyone at any age, knowing this causes less anxiety for your child. Rest assured camper’s family will be contacted so together we can work out the best solution.

Visitors - A one-week camp program does not permit time for visitors. Thank you for understanding.

Accommodations - Our Loft bunkhouse sleeps 28 girls 7-11 years old and Derby is home to 28 girls 12-14 years old. Built in 2005, Derby is equipped with showers which are accessible to all campers. Counselors stay in adjoining rooms.

Children's Fitness Tax Credit - Growing numbers of Canadian children are settling into a physically inactive life. The goal of the Children's Fitness Tax Credit is to put money back into parents pockets while allowing children to maintain a healthy, active, and fun summer!

To change the growing sedentary lifestyle the federal government has introduced the Children's Fitness Tax Credit. The credit allows you to claim a maximum of $500 per year for fees paid for each child who is under 16 at any time during the year. As with most other non-refundable tax credits, it is calculated by multiplying the eligible amount by the lowest marginal tax rate.
